Star Roofing – Roofing Contractor in Albany, New York

FRAUDULENT COMPANY RIPS OFF SENIOR CITIZENS!! CHARGES FOR WORK NOT DONE, WHICH CREATES EXTENSIVE DAMAGE!!! My grandfather, at age 66, had his roof done by Star roofing in 2002. He paid extra for a 40 year shingle. The contract clearly states that the ridge was to be cut to for the vent.I went up on the roof, now 17 years later, to replace some skylights and investigate a leak and ended up putting my foot right through the roof. On further inspection under the ridge vent I noticed that not only was the ridge not cut, it was covered with felt paper and shingles creating an airtight seal. This trapped moisture which caused the plywood, rafters and ridge beam to rot. There is white, black, green, and yellow mold all over the place. There are leaks and mold coming through the ceiling drywall. 90 percent of the shingles have the nails blown through the shingles due to incorrect nailing, which is also causing leaks. My grandfather, now 83, needs a new roof and structural repairs, 17 years into a 40 year roof due to fraud committed by this company. I called to complain, and got to talk to "Don" who seemed irate that my now 84 year old grandfather wasnt the one calling to complain so he be scammed again? Don had nothing but bogus excuses such as there is a 5 year workmanship guaranty, he doesnt know what work has been done, someone could have shoved in insulation, etc. This isnt about workmanship, it is about work that was charged for and knowingly not done. This is FRAUD, a crime is still a crime even years later. Don didnt want pictures and needed to find a "paper" to get back to me on the the problem, which never happened. Clearly this company hasnt gotten any better with age. I called Owens & Corning as Star Roofing is a Preferred Contractor, which is why they were used, Owens & Corning Preferred Contractor, they now have an open investigation into this shady company.

Star roofing gave very reasonable competitive pricing for slate removal and replacement with asphalt shingles. Even when a few additional charges came up, they honored the negotiated pricing, cleaned up all around the house, and left packet for replacement if needed. Staff are friendly and want to make sure you're happy as the customer. Definitely consider them for roofing work.

Pricing was competitive, service top-notch and our roof came out excellent.
