Kings Roofing and Construction – Roofing Contractor in Hephzibah, Georgia

I gave Mr. King a job to install a metal roof. It's been 4 week since I gave him that job and I have had the worst experience ever. I spoke with Mr. King back in October. I told him that I wanted to put a new roof on a rental property that I own. He told me that a metal roof would be cheaper than taking off the existing shingles and installing a new roof. He gave me a quote of 2500 to complete the roof. 2000 for parts and 500 for labor. On that date he measured the roofincorrectly. This resulted in me having to order more pieces of metal. He also never informed me of the material costs associated with getting a metal roof such as the wood sheets, caulking, etc. If I had known this prior I would have went with another quote that I received. At this time he did not mention that I would need to purchase the vents from the manufacturer because they were not sold a Lowe's or Home depot. The vents sold at these companies were vents intended to go under shingled roofs. This man wanted to use shingle roof vents under a metal roof. I learned this 3 weeks into the job. It cost me an addition 100+ and it took an extra week. From the first day I met with Mr.King he asked me for money for gas. This should have been the first red flag and I should have went elsewhere with my business. Its been 4 weeks since then and the roof on my property is not complete. I'm aggravated daily because of this ordeal. Everyday he waits until noon or later to go out there to do work because he needs gas money. I gave him an advance of 135 before he even put a single sheet of metal on the roof. This was a mistake of mine. I trusted this man who stated that his wife had recently died and he was down on his luck. From this point on its been a nightmare to have anything done. He is extremely unreliable and is a liar. I have to find out everything from his worker because Mr. King is not honest about whats going on. Everyday he has an excuse why the work cannot be done and its stressing me out because I already gave him all but 150 of the 500 for the roof. During the second week of the job he stated that he needed gas and he could not pick up the workers to do the job because of it. I got in my car and drove about an hour 30 minutes each way to bring him another advance. They barely did any work the following week. I then spoke to them about picking up some wood I had purchased for the roof and it took him several days to do so. In the mean time no work has be done to the roof. His worker told me a sob story about the way he was being treated by Mr. King and I went against my better judgement and gave him 100 more to pay his employee. Its been about a week since the new metal was brought and none of it was put on the roof. The strips for the roof were also brought and they are still not on the roof. I have half a roof on my house now and I do not want to pay another company to complete the job because I'm already over my intended budget. I'm beyond aggravated and this man should not be able to conduct business like this. Its ridiculous. It has rained multiple days and the roof and the metal that I purchased are just sitting in the yard undone. I trusted this man and his workers and they proved that they were not honest people at all. I'm very disappointed and would advise anyone looking to get a roof done to go elsewhere. I would not wish this headache on my worst enemy. I'm telling you what I wish someone would have told me. My roof would have been completed and I would not feel as though I had to babysit a grown man everyday to make sure he had gas in his car and was going to follow his word as he promised. 0/10 for Mr. King and Kings Roofing & Construction.
