Christopher Nice | I found Misty Valley through Facebook marketplace. I contacted Ben about getting a quote for a 30x30 garage. The quote seemed fair enough so I gave him the job. He came out on January 20th to start the dirt work and setting posts. All was well and good.I should have known better when Ben requested cash only and told me that this dirt work was the first time he had ever ran a skid steer. Everything with this project started off well enough all the way through framing but when it came time for metal work things went off the rails. I felt through the entire project it was being rushed and thrown together way to fast and you can tell by the metal work. Every single piece of metal siding that was put up was cut with a sawzall making jagged cuts that were definitely not pleasing to the eye. The roof is crooked from one corner to another and there were holes where they missed the nailers that's I've since had to silicone. The window was framed properly but the decided to put the metal siding on first and then cut the whole for the window and then preceded to tell me I bought the wrong window. I have since fixed this as well. Then en when they got down to just trim remaining it was like pulling teeth trying to get them here to finish up hanging the walk in door and to finish the trim. Which I ended up finishing myself Ben did come up on a Saturday and put 3 corners on and forced the door in the frame hole, which will need to be fixed. He then told me that he wouldn't be back for two weeks at least because he had picked up a job with a person who was a millionaire and wanted several barns built. At this point I had already paid the full amount for my building and it was not complete. And I'll admit that is on me. But. He basically told me I was no longer a priority and he would get her when he could so I fired him and have since completed the remaining trim work myself. I should have probably taken him to small claims court to re coup some of my losses but in the end the legal fees would have been more than the building and in all likelihood he wouldn't have shown up to mediation from what I read on their Better Business Bureau review. I'm not even sure they are licensed or insured as their sign says. Not sure how they can be when Ben doesn't even have a social security number from being ex Amish. I was more than reasonable to deal. Often giving him money throughout the project, again a big red flag, often on short notice and in large amounts. I never received one single receipt for materials that I paid for...so I'm sure that I overpaid and he pockets the money. Stay far far away from this company. I have also posted pictures |
