Handyman Connection of Chesterfield – Roofing Contractor in Fenton, Missouri

First off, I'm admitting fault for not insisting on written documentation prior to work being done. I called for a bid on blow in insulation in our attic over a bedroom 180 sq ft. pretty straightforwardI was told that there was a minimum purchase of 20 bags so they could get the blower for free from Lowe's, but that my space only needed 10 bags. The charge would be 420 plus the cost of materials. I knew that my neighbor literally 10 ft away also was interested in the same so I asked if we could split it up between our houses. The guy said sure, but failed to say that moving the blower 10 feet would incur a whole new minimum labor charge of an additional 420. I recieved an invoice 3 days after the work was completed with a labor charge of 840, materials 190. I called and left a message questioning my invoice on a Friday. Wednesday I get a call thinking they were finally calling me back, but it was to collect payment. I explained the situation to them and was told that she needed to call the owner and the service rep. She calls back late afternoon to tell me that the owner isn't going to budge, that the estimate that they never sent me didn't say anything about an additional address and that because there was an additional location 10 feet away that that was a separate service. As a small business owner myself, I'm all for paying someone well for a job I don't want to do, but 840 for 2 hours of work is absolutely insane and we never would have agreed to something that extravagant. I also understand that mistakes are made and that with the pandemic, we're all in a whole different ball game of how we do business, but to admit their estimate had discrepancies and that they weren't even willing to "budge" is enough to make others aware of their business practices.
