Beth Clack | Junior Construction was hired to build 12x40 front porch and replace the roof on our home. The work was to be completed by May 31st, our closing date. We fired the company on June 7th, the cause being shoddy workmanship and breach of contractactually invoice. The metal roof was so poorly done that it is not salvagable. The porch needs extensive work, some of which we will have to do ourselves as the cost of repairs exceed the initial contractinvoice amount by over 3000. We have hired a new contractor who will be removing the porch roof and rebuilding it, correcting the pitch that was way too lowconfirmed by architect, the load placementconfirmed by architect, and resupporting the trusses after Junior's removed an important header after claiming it wasn't load bearingIt was load bearing, confirmed by architect.. They will also remove the four month old roof and replace it. Please understand that we would not do this, spending 17,000, if it was not absolutely necessary. We are not disgruntled clients. We are reasonable people, who pointed out the issues and were told that we were wrong or that they would be fixed and were not. Several parts of the job were already rework. The owner of Junior Construction did fire an employee over the shoddy work, but he had seen the state of the job and could have corrected it on several occasions but chose not to. The owner and foreman offered to come out and address the problems with the work. We have refused and asked for our deposit back. No money back yet. The problems are such that they would have the deconstruct and rebuild to make it right. As we are. We are literally afraid to let them touch our home again. After firing the company, we found out that this is sort of an M.O. Contractorsplural referred us to Missouri Casenet to review their history of litigation and bankruptcy filing to avoid paying judgements. I wish I had known all of this prior to our dealings with this company or that those harmed had followed through with reviews and BBB complaints. I hope that this review helps others to avoid our headache and financial loss. We have an architect report and photos to prove out all grievances mentioned here. |
